Hello Acha,
Hello Acha,
I thought I start writing to you more often. I know you love to conceive thoughts, ideas, experiences from reads. I am thinking you will relish reading what I write to the extent as if I was there and we were in an in-person discussion.Lately, I have been thinking about India, our traditions, customs, religions etc.. It is very tough to explain what Hinduism is. But it is foremost and very important to understand Hinduism goes many many years back. Like Judaism. Both these prehistoric religions never had strong propagators like Ashoka for Buddism or the 10 disciples of Jesus for Christianity. Also, there is no set procedure to convert someone to a Hindu. Sorry, I am already going off topic. I rather wanted to talk about Hindu Sannyasis / Munees/ Yogis / Rishis etc.. Why does Hinduism work? Why does the way of living of the people who lived on the banks of the Hindu river work? Some, if not all can be attributed to the work of these Munis / Rishis. Think about how many synonyms do we have for 'Rishi'. That can itself tell they played an important role. (again off topic, in Vivekananda’s ‘Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda’, abridged book published and sold by Ramakrishna mission, he mentions some of the Rishis were women - Kudos! Gender equality goes back a long time in Hinduism :)).
Why do computers work? Why do we use computers to solve many many problems of this age? Be it in physics, chemistry, entertainment, medicine… be it any field, computers are used. Be it a computer chess game, be it to decode a DNA, be it to simulate a thermal plant (your favorite), be it to conduct state elections, be it to forecast weather, be it to study if there is life elsewhere outside earth.. we use computers. We know computers and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are going to go a long way. In today’s world, it is very common to be tech savvy. I mean to get things done by using technology. It was Alan Moore who predicted computer size to drastically shrink in a matter of time (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law. My point is, today’s world has accepted computers. Today’s humans bet a lot on computers. A lot many highly talented individuals around the world work on improving computers. To take today's binary computing to quantum levels. Computer sizes to nano levels etc.. Probably their efforts and futuristic visions will save Mankind from some unforeseen danger in the future. Some kind of danger that is impossible to imagine now.
Rishis could have been the computer engineers of the prehistoric days. Of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. Probably meditation was the big thing then. Like how computers are today. Acquiring knowledge by meditating could have been the biggest craze then. Could be as an effort to solve problems. As a demonstration of your intellectual capabilities etc..
These great minds would have challenged themselves to find the reasons for life to exist, answers to questions like ‘who are you’ etc.. Then should have evolved the concepts of ’soul’, ‘reincarnation' etc.. and its written form in Vedas. Hope these concepts passed on to us from our forefathers help us endure a long time.
